Privacy

I am Laurentiu Niculescu, a self-employed software engineer in London. This page says what happens to your information when you use this site. It is short, because the site does almost nothing with it.

No cookies, no analytics

None at all.

No Google Analytics, no Meta pixel, no advertising tag, and no cookie banner either, because there is nothing here for you to consent to. Nothing is stored in your browser and nothing about your visit reaches anybody else. The footer of every page says exactly that, which makes it a claim rather than decoration, and if it ever stops being true the footer changes the same day.

If you use the contact form

You give me a name, an email address and a message. It goes straight to my inbox as an email through IONOS, who provide my mail, and that is the end of its journey. There is no database. Nothing about it is stored on this website at all. The address you typed also lands in the server log, which is how I tell a real enquiry from a bot when something breaks, and those logs rotate.

I use all of it to answer you, and to do the work if you end up hiring me. That is the whole list.

You will not be added to a mailing list. There isn’t one.

I keep enquiry emails for twelve months, then delete them. If we end up working together, the correspondence is kept as a business record for as long as the law requires. My lawful basis is legitimate interests: you contacted me and you expect an answer.

If you use the chat assistant

Most questions never leave your browser. They are answered from a fixed set of replies that ships with the page.

Anything that set cannot handle is sent on to Anthropic, whose API runs the model that writes the reply. What travels is your message and the last few turns of the conversation, and nothing in that identifies you unless you type something that does. So please keep personal details out of the chat box. The contact form is there for exactly that.

I keep no copy of your conversation. How Anthropic handles API data is theirs to describe, not mine.

IP addresses

Your IP address sits in memory for ten minutes, which is what stops a bot hammering the contact form and the chat. It is never written to disk and never joined to anything else. After ten minutes it is gone.

Sharing, and where the server is

I sell nothing to anybody, and I share nothing for marketing. Two third parties are involved and both are named above: IONOS carries the email, Anthropic runs the model behind the chat, and each of them acts on my instructions rather than their own.

The site runs on a Linux server I rent and administer myself, in London. It is not shared hosting, and no agency has access to it.

What you can ask for

Ask me what I hold about you, ask me to correct it, or ask me to wipe it. Email info@laurentiu-niculescu.co.uk. The law gives me a month and it usually takes me a week. There is no charge, and you do not have to give a reason.

Think I have handled your information badly? You can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk, or ring them on 0303 123 1113. I would much rather you told me first, so I get the chance to put it right.
