Your home PCs, kept updated and locked down

Most home PCs are set up once and then left alone. Windows Update can stall for weeks without telling anyone. The whole family signs in as an administrator, so one wrong click on a dodgy link reaches everything, and nobody has ever checked whether the disk is encrypted or whether the antivirus is really switched on.

For £10 a month per device I do that checking. I set each PC up properly once, look it over every month, and send you a short report: green, amber or red. If something needs fixing I fix it, with your say-so.

It is for Windows PCs and laptops at home, and it is all done remotely. It will not mend a PC that has died, and if one is too old to be kept safe I will tell you straight.

What you get

  • A security baseline, set up once with you: automatic updates on, Microsoft Defender (or the antivirus you already pay for) and the firewall on, disk encryption where Windows supports it, and an everyday account without administrator rights
  • A check on every PC each month: are the updates really installing, has anything been switched off, is there software you did not choose, is the disk healthy
  • A short report each month in plain English: green, amber or red for each PC, and what I changed
  • Fixes when a check turns something up, made with your say-so
  • Up to five problems a month on each covered PC: a slow PC, a pop-up you do not trust, an update that will not install
  • No set-up fee and no minimum term

Who it's for

Households with Windows PCs or laptops they want kept updated and locked down, and who would rather not learn how.

How it's priced

£10 a month for each Windows PC or laptop on the plan: two PCs is £20 a month, three is £30. No set-up fee, no minimum term, and you can cancel any time: the month you have paid for stays active. Anything outside the plan is quoted before I start.

Questions people ask

What counts as one of the five problems?
One thing going wrong on a covered PC: a slow machine, a program that has stopped working, a pop-up or email you do not trust, an update that will not install. Each PC on the plan gets its own five a month. I work on it remotely, for up to 20 minutes. If it needs longer I say what it will take and what it will cost before I carry on, and it does not use up one of your five. Unused ones do not roll over.
Do you need access to my PC?
Only as far as the work needs it, and nothing is changed without your say-so. The monthly check reads settings. It does not open your files. I never need your passwords, and if a fix means signing in to something, I ask you to do it.
Which PCs are covered?
Windows 11 and Windows 10 PCs and laptops, at £10 a month each. Windows 10 stopped getting free security updates in October 2025, so if a PC cannot be kept safe I will say so plainly and tell you your options. Macs, phones and tablets are not covered yet.
What if I have more than one PC?
Each PC is £10 a month and has its own monthly check and its own five problems. Two PCs is £20 a month, three is £30.
Is this for businesses?
No, it is for homes. A business is better served by a security audit or a website care plan.
How do I cancel?
Tell me. There is no notice period, and the month you have paid for stays active.

Ask about the plan

Tell me what you have at home: how many PCs, which version of Windows if you know it, and anything that is bothering you now. I reply within a working day, and I explain how the set-up works before you pay anything.
